Lamborghini’s inaugural electric vehicle (EV) appears to be setting its sights on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N as a key performance reference point. This intriguing development comes after the electric SUV was seen departing from the iconic carmaker’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.
In a recent YouTube video, renowned spy photographer Varryx captured footage of the uncamouflaged Ioniq 5 N, which was sporting German license plates as it left Lamborghini’s premises—an unusual, yet not unheard-of, occurrence in the automotive industry. Manufacturers often procure competitor vehicles to assess their performance and inform the development of their own upcoming models.
Lamborghini is poised to unveil its own electric offering, named the Lanzador, in 2029, adjusting its timeline from an earlier target of 2028. The Lanzador was initially revealed in prototype form in 2023, generating significant anticipation within the automotive community.
