Honda is set to unveil two innovative electric vehicles (EVs) next month in Las Vegas, ahead of the CES 2025 technology convention scheduled for January 7-10. The company has referred to these vehicles as prototypes, yet they seem poised to represent more advanced iterations of the Honda 0 Series prototypes—designated Saloon and Space-Hub—that generated buzz during CES 2024.
These upcoming models are expected to hint at Honda’s broader ambitions in the EV market, with a planned global launch in 2026. In addition to showcasing the two cutting-edge EVs, Honda will introduce its proprietary vehicle operating system and advanced autonomous driving functionalities, which will be integrated into the 0 Series lineup.
The Honda Saloon concept, which premiered last year, featured a sleek, low-profile design complemented by a spacious four-seat cabin. In contrast, the Honda Space-Hub adopted a more utilitarian, boxy form intended for family transport. Recent teaser images suggest that the forthcoming Saloon will retain its dynamic silhouette, while the new iteration of the Space-Hub may boast a design more akin to an SUV.
The initial production models of these groundbreaking vehicles will first hit the North American market in 2026, with subsequent releases planned for Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. However, Honda Australia has indicated that there are currently no plans to introduce the 0 Series in their market.
By 2030, Honda aims to launch a total of seven models under the 0 Series umbrella, encompassing a range of sizes from compact to large. These vehicles will be constructed on a new platform designed to incorporate slimmer battery packs and smaller electric motors, resulting in reduced weight and enhanced driving range.
Moreover, the 0 Series is anticipated to integrate Honda’s Level 3 semi-autonomous driving technology, enabling drivers to relinquish control under certain conditions—offering a glimpse into the future of operational ease. The advanced driver assistance systems will leverage AI and LiDAR technology to optimize performance.
Honda’s current EV endeavors have exhibited diversity, from the e:N and Ye branding geared toward the Chinese market to SUVs based on General Motors’ electric architecture specific to North America. The company is also collaborating with Sony to launch EVs under the new Afeela brand.
Stay tuned for more updates as Honda gears up for this exciting reveal, marking a significant step forward in their electric vehicle strategy.
