Lexus Australia has initiated a recall affecting 2,963 units of its RX SUV line due to a defect in the headlight system that renders the vehicles non-compliant with Australian road regulations.

According to the notice issued by the manufacturer, the trouble stems from a flaw in the Adaptive High Beam System (AHS). Over time, cracks may form, which can lead to the LED reflector detaching from its motor within the headlamp housing. This malfunction could hinder both the AHS functionality and the automatic high beam feature, prompting a warning alert to appear on the dashboard.

The failure of the AHS or high beam system poses a heightened risk of accidents, potentially endangering not only the vehicle’s occupants but also other road users. As these vehicles do not comply with Australian Design Rule (ADR) 13/00—pertaining to the installation of lighting and light signaling devices on non-L-Group vehicles—the recall has become imperative.

The recall encompasses models manufactured between 2019 and 2022, and the relevant Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) have been provided within the attached documentation.

Owners of the affected Lexus RX vehicles will be contacted directly to schedule a complimentary service appointment with their preferred dealer to rectify the issue.
